SUMA managed the clean-up operation for the 2026 Cortejo da Queima das Fitas in Coimbra, collecting around 14 tonnes of waste and deploying staff and machinery to support the event and ensure the area was restored to a clean condition once it had finished.

SUMA has once again been recognised as a Trusted Brand in the Environment Category, reinforcing the trust placed by the Portuguese public in a brand that delivers essential environmental services to communities every day.

Sessions aimed at service users, trainees and staff at the institution encouraged the sharing of knowledge on recycling and waste sorting, reinforcing SUMA’s commitment to raising environmental awareness and engaging with local communities.

The visit by Hugo Pereira, CEO of Mota-Engil Ambiente e Energia, to the Polima Service Center was marked by the presentation of SUMA’s new collection vehicles.

The continued focus on innovation and technology has once again been recognised. A project developed by SUMA was distinguished at the Mota-Engil Innovation Awards 2025 for its contribution to a more efficient, sustainable and intelligent management of waste collection operations.
